The Homes for Families Fundraising Breakfast is one of the most impactful events of the year for The Road Home Dane County! It’s a time for our community to come together, celebrate the progress we’re making toward ending homelessness, and ensure families have the support they need to create stable, thriving futures. One of the key ways you can help make this event successful is by becoming a Table Host.
As a Table Host, you’re not just helping to fill seats at a breakfast—you’re becoming a crucial part of our mission to end family homelessness. You’re inviting people to learn about the work we do, the difference we’re making, and how they can be part of the solution. Whether you’re inviting family, friends, neighbors, coworkers, or members of your congregation, you’re building a community that supports families facing housing instability and homelessness.
Table Host Essentials: Supporting Our Mission
The Road Home’s mission is to help children and families experiencing homelessness achieve stability and reach self-determined goals. We believe everyone deserves a safe and stable place to call home, which provides the foundation for lasting change. Table Hosts play a critical role in advancing this mission.
Your involvement begins before the breakfast itself. Table Hosts will be asked to:
- Develop Your Guest List
Invite people who may be interested in supporting The Road Home’s mission. The more people you bring into the fold, the greater the impact you will have on spreading our mission. - Decide How Many People to Host
You can choose to host a full table (you and nine guests) or a half-table (you and four guests). If you prefer to be paired with another host, we can help connect you with another individual who is hosting a half-table. - Send Invitations
It’s time to spread the word! Invite your guests by phone, email, text, or in person. Make sure to emphasize the date—Thursday, October 23rd—and let them know how important this event is to The Road Home and the families we support. Closer to the event, you’ll receive a digital toolkit to help with invitations, including sample scripts and flyers. - Submit Your Guest List
We ask that you submit your guest list by Monday, October 6th to Betsy Berry at Betsyb@trhome.org. This helps us ensure we have enough space for everyone; although we encourage you to submit your list prior to that date to secure your spots.
On the day of the breakfast, your job is simple but crucial:
- Arrive Early
Arrive a few minutes before the event to greet your guests and ensure they feel welcomed. When you check in, a greeter will provide you with your table host folder and all the materials you need for the morning of the event. - Encourage Pledges and Donations
During the event, we will provide you with the pledge/donation QR code or physical pledge forms to share with your guests. Leading by example, we encourage you to make your own pledge or donation. It helps set the tone for the event and inspires others to contribute. - Collect Pledge Forms
If your guests fill out a physical pledge form or include a donation in the envelope provided, please collect those before the event ends. Turn them in to The Road Home staff at the exit so we can properly acknowledge and process their contributions.
After the breakfast, your role continues:
- Thank Your Guests
Express gratitude to your guests for attending the event and supporting The Road Home’s mission. - Stay Engaged
Help connect your guests to The Road Home’s ongoing work and activities. The more people who stay engaged, the more support we can build for families in need.
It Takes a Community
The Road Home works alongside many other organizations to provide comprehensive support and play an essential role in addressing housing instability to ensure families have the resources they need to rebuild their lives.
By becoming a Table Host, you’re joining a community of support. You’ll help raise awareness about the challenges families face and encourage others to get involved—whether through a generous gift, volunteering, or spreading the word. Together, we can build a community where every family has the support they need to stay in stable, safe housing and move toward a brighter future.
Ready to Take the Next Step?
Thank you for considering becoming a Table Host for the Homes for Families Breakfast. Your involvement will help more families in Dane County receive the support they need to build a future free from homelessness. Together, we can create a community where every family has a safe, stable home, and a chance to thrive.
