The Road Home Dane County Awarded $8,000 Grant from A Fund for Women to Support Women’s Employment & Education Fund
The Road Home Dane County is proud to announce that in early September, they have been awarded an $8,000 grant from A Fund for Women, a component fund of Madison Community Foundation that champions causes that empower women to achieve their goals. This grant will enhance The Road Home’s Women’s Employment & Education Fund, which empowers women in their housing programs to overcome barriers to employment and stable housing. These funds will directly support women across The Road Home’s 13 housing programs, helping them secure stable employment and work towards their educational aspirations.
With these funds, The Road Home will help defray critical costs associated with childcare, transportation, and educational expenses. By alleviating these financial burdens, The Road Home strives to eliminate barriers that could derail participants’ progress toward stable housing and gainful employment.
The Employment and Education Fund is vital to the professional and educational development of many women in our programs,” said Nicole Christensen, Program Director at The Road Home. “In just the last four months, the fund has been used for courses and placement tests at local colleges, event fees for a mother to promote her business, childcare registration, work uniforms, and car repairs. This flexibility allows us to support families in ways that address their unique challenges and help them move toward stability and success.”
The Road Home Dane County works tirelessly to end family homelessness through compassion, collaboration, and community support. With the generous support from A Fund for Women, The Road Home can continue to address the immediate needs of the women we serve, creating pathways to stability and success.
