Michael Etheridge Joins The Road Home as Executive Director

The Road Home Dane County is thrilled to announce Michael Etheridge as its new Executive Director, effective August 5, 2024. With a wealth of experience and a proven track record in the human services field, Michael is set to bring fresh leadership and strategic innovation to our organization.

“Michael not only brings extensive knowledge and expertise in managing homelessness services but also a deep commitment to our mission,” said The Road Home’s Board of Directors President, Robin Matthies. “His impressive track record and strategic approach make him the ideal person to lead The Road Home into its next chapter.”

Michael comes to The Road Home Dane County after serving ten years as the Executive Director of The Haven of Manitowoc County, Inc., a men’s homeless shelter. Under his leadership, The Haven made significant strides, serving 490 men and securing permanent housing for 70% of them. He also spearheaded a shared housing expansion, providing a crucial bridge for guests transitioning to permanent housing.

Michael’s dedication to serving others is supported by a solid academic foundation and extensive professional experience. He holds a BA in Music with a topical minor in Social Work from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Since beginning his career in 1994, Michael has held various roles that showcase his versatility and commitment to helping those in need. His early career includes work as a Juvenile Youth Counselor, specializing in sex offender and oppositional defiant intervention, and as a Para-Professional working with children with Emotional Behavior Disorder. Additionally, he has served as a Case Manager for victims of domestic violence, Resident Program Coordinator, Resident Supervisor, and Resident Counselor.

Further enhancing his expertise, Michael earned a master’s degree in leadership and organizational development, equipping him with advanced skills in guiding organizations toward strategic and operational excellence. Beyond his professional roles, Michael has occupied several board positions and served as president for some of these boards, demonstrating his capacity to lead and influence at multiple levels.
