Statement from The Road Home Dane County

The Road Home Dane County joins our community in grieving and processing the tragic loss of a Black community member following an encounter with law enforcement. We recognize the pain, grief, and uncertainty this moment had created, and we extend our care and compassion to everyone who has been impacted.

As an organization committed to creating a community where every family has access to safety, stability and belonging, we know moment like this affect us all.We know this loss is not experienced in isolation. It comes amid ongoing conversations about racial inequity, safety, and the systems that continue to impact Black and Brown communities. We stand with our community in acknowledging the weight of this moment and the many emotions it brings.

At The Road Home, we remain committed to walking alongside the families we serve and creating spaces where people feel supported, heard, and valued. We will continue listening, learning, and showing up with compassion for our families, our staff, and our broader community.

We encourage everyone to take care of themselves and one another during this difficult time. Together, we can continue working toward a community where every person has the opportunity to feel safe, supported, and a true sense of belonging.
